Zakir package handed to the CCO, AppRiver email sweep, and the Market & Economic deck moves to a versioned Box folder
Zakir package handed to the CCO, AppRiver email sweep, and the Market & Economic deck moves to a versioned Box folder — 2026-09-11
Forty-eight messages across the day in the Brandon 1:1, in three movements: the Zakir material and the CCO's email to the clients in the morning; an AppRiver archive sweep back to 2016 through the early afternoon; the Market & Economic Review deck and a new versioned Box home for it from late afternoon into the evening. Several images and attachments are not retrievable.
Summary
- 9:33 AM ET: JT gave Brandon the complete Zakir package in two links — the fee-reconciliation site ("every scenario and what the rebate would be in each given scenario") and the Box matter folder holding the timeline, agreements, and correspondence — and stated the key finding from the email search so far: "I didn't see the 1% fee mentioned in any email."
- 10:40 AM ET: Brandon: "Just sent them an email. Calling you in 2." That email is logged separately (2026-09-11 Brandon–Zakir email record). The call itself is not on the record.
- 10:57 AM ET: JT sent a more detailed 2026 correspondence timeline and confirmed, from Jamar, that the DocuSign carrying the 1% reduction went out 2026-04-20 on Derek's instruction — the date JT had removed from an earlier version because it was unconfirmed.
- 11:03–11:05 AM ET: JT offered to run the email archive back past 2026 for any mention of 1% or 1.25%; Brandon: "if it's easy." AppRiver returned nothing at first; by 12:41 PM the export was running back to 2016, and at 1:50 PM the full export was filed to the matter folder under Correspondence.
- 12:14 PM ET: Brandon, on the clients: "It doesn't look like they're going to respond to me anyways..." At 3:44 PM, "no response..."
- 3:43–5:15 PM ET: JT added Brandon's rolling 10-year bond chart to the Market & Economic Review deck (fixed-income section, after "Bonds Are an Asset Again," with talking points in the notes), refreshed Fed odds, CPI, oil and yields through the week, and sent the deck plus an Update Summary. Brandon: "Used it again today. Clients love the data."
- JT proposed a running Box log — one dated folder per update with the slides and a change doc — and, when Brandon said "You pick," created it at TCM Firm File › Brandon Drespling › Reports & Resources › Market & Economic Review Presentation. Brandon: "That's cool with me. I'll use it Monday with fisher."
- 9:06–9:09 PM ET: Brandon sent two more images and three quoted lines on the Fed ("Fed getting it wrong again. August was the lowest core CPI reading since 2021. And they're going to raise rates." / "Wrong then. Wrong now. Huge policy error.") and "Damn bonds have been getting smacked hard." JT turned the CPI point into a slide and posted v2 at 10:05 PM with a folder orientation: dated folders, deck + PDF + Update Summary in each, a root Change Log, and presenter notes carrying the updates.
Decisions
- Brandon Drespling: the Zakir next step is his email and a call, not the document package (see the email record).
- JT: the Market & Economic Review deck now lives in a versioned Box folder under Brandon's TCM Firm File; every update gets a dated subfolder and a change summary. Brandon agreed.
- Brandon Drespling: he will present the updated deck on Monday 2026-09-14 to "fisher" (a client or prospect; surname only, not on file).
They asked me for
- Brandon Drespling: run the archive search for 1% or 1.25% mentions "if it's easy." Done — export back to 2016 filed 1:50 PM.
- Brandon Drespling: add the bond chart, the Fed/CPI quotes and a second bond image to the deck. Done — v1 at 5:11 PM, v2 (CPI slide) at 10:05 PM.
I asked them for
- Brandon Drespling: whether he had changed the deck since the version JT last sent (asked 3:43 PM; not answered in the chat — JT proceeded).
- Brandon Drespling: a Box location for the deck log. He delegated it: "You pick."
Concerns and frustrations raised
- Brandon Drespling: resignation about the Zakirs' silence ("It doesn't look like they're going to respond to me anyways...").
- Brandon Drespling: market view, not a work complaint — the Fed is repeating its 2021 error, bonds are "getting smacked hard."
What they are focused on
- Brandon Drespling: presenting the Market & Economic Review to clients (used it 2026-09-11, again Monday); the Zakir matter has moved to a wait on the clients.
Doable / not doable / needs a decision
- Keeping the deck current on a rolling basis → doable and now has a home; the cost is JT's time each time Brandon sends a new chart or quote.
- Zakir: the promised 2026-09-11 package → needs a decision (Brandon and Derek) on whether it still goes out and when; JT's side of it is complete and filed.
Action items
Mine
- Keep dropping each Market & Economic Review update into the dated Box folders with an Update Summary and a Change Log entry — ongoing — (Notion: not pushed)
- Nothing further on Zakir until Brandon or Derek asks; the reconciliation site, matter folder, 2026 timeline and 2016–2026 email export are all in place — (Notion: not pushed)
Theirs
- Present the updated deck Monday to "fisher" — Brandon Drespling — target 2026-09-14
- Decide with Derek whether the Zakir document package still goes to the clients, and when — Brandon Drespling — target not set
Suggestions for me
- The AppRiver export is the strongest single artifact in the Zakir file: it shows no email ever stated 1% or 1.25% before 2026. Put that sentence, with the export path, at the top of the matter folder README so it is the first thing anyone reads.
- "fisher" is a client-facing use of the deck on Monday. If the Update Summary is meant to be read by Brandon before that meeting, send a two-line "what changed since you last presented" message Monday morning rather than relying on the docx.
- Brandon delegates format decisions to JT readily ("You pick", "Wherever") and then adopts them. Expect the same on the Zakir package format if JT proposes one.
